Description

Set within stunning gardens that wrap around the house, this wonderful cottage is a family-friendly haven from where you can explore all that the Peaks and Derbyshire have to offer. Situated in the popular Derbyshire village of Baslow, the property is close to many local facilities, which include a post office, grocery shop, pubs and restaurants. If you are looking for a long walk, experience the stunning views from the Gritstone Edge, one of the features of the local landscape, split between the lighter limestone and darker gritstone that make up the astounding beauty of the peaks. Or why not explore the heather moorlands above the village or walk through the beautiful grounds of Chatsworth House, less than 4 miles away. Bakewell with a plethora of shops and restaurants is just 6 miles away.

Approach the cottage up the winding, stone slabbed pathways through the gardens and up the short flight of stone steps to the front door.

Ground Floor:

Sitting Room: a cosy room with comfortable seating, wood burning stove in the attractive fireplace, Freeview TV and DVD player. Starter pack of logs provided for the stove.

Dining Room: with table, chairs and bench seating with cushions, gas stove in the Victorian-style fireplace, WiFi.

Kitchen: excellently fitted, range cooker with electric ovens and gas burner hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher; two large store cupboards, one with washing machine, tumble dryer.

Cloakroom: with WC and basin, under the stairs with some limited headroom.

First Floor:

Bedroom 1: with king size bed.

Bedroom 2: with double bed.

Bedroom 3: with super king size bed, which can be made up as twin beds on request.

Play Room:  a small room with children’s toys, games and books.

Family Bathroom: with doube-head shower over the bath, WC and basin.

For families with young children: there is a travel cot with mattress, highchair, booster seat, toddler step, two stairgates, child-friendly cups, plates and cutlery.

Outside: there are two seating areas, and lots of mature shrubs and plants. Catch it in the right season and you will have fruit on the trees and a rich array of colours in the garden. There is a lockable greenhouse where bikes can be stored, and although the garden is not fully secured due to low walls, this is a wonderful space for your furry friend to enjoy.

Parking: for one car at the bottom of the garden; roadside parking on the quiet lanes nearby.

Reviews

My two adult sons and I have just had a wonderful long weekend in Hawkfield, our first in the Peak district. The house was very comfortable and well equipped, it had everything we needed. The views from two of the bedrooms were amazing and the garden was lovely, it was so nice to listen to all the birds singing. There were many walks from the house which were great and we could walk to shops, tea rooms and pubs. Also it is so close to drive to anywhere in the Peaks. We will definitely be back again as soon as possible

Mrs D,

Excellent cottage, great location, loved it.

Dr P,

Really nice house, lots of space and very well equipped. The house was very clean and comfortable.

Mr R,

We loved this cottage - it quickly became our 'home' for the week. Lovely setting In Baslow, a super village shop and individual, very comfortable accommodation. Very uneven pathways so not good for anyone unsteady. Generally great!

Mrs P,

The bedrooms were all comfortable, and cosy. Cottage very clean and to a high standard. Standout features of the cottage was its fully-equipped kitchen, which made it easy to prepare meals during out stay and the secluded mature garden.

Mr O,

Lovely cottage, very well equipped, location is perfect for enjoying the Derbyshire countryside, visiting local attractions, and walking distance to a number of pubs and restaurants.

Mrs M,

A lovely cottage in a perfect location! Plenty of space for 5 adults and a dog. Local to Chatsworth House, and beautiful walks in the Peak District. Walking distance to Pubs and shops in the village of Baslow. A very enjoyable stay, quiet and cosy.

Mrs H,

A lovely homely cottage. It's in a great location with short walks to all the amenities that Baslow offers and the gardens are a real feature of the property. It had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay and would definitely book again.

Mrs O,

An amazing cottage in such a wonderful location. A great base to head off on many walks without the need to drive somewhere first. The cottage itself is very well equipped and beautifully presented. All three bedrooms were so comfortable and presented well. The gardens were well kept and a lovely feature. We stayed as a family of four with one pet. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend Hawkfield Cottage.

Mrs H,

Beautiful cottage . Very comfortable and excellent location . Proper cottage garden too.

Mrs A,

Great location, property was fine comfortably well equipped and in a quiet area Would be happy to stay again

Mr H,

Very warm and comfortable cottage, absolutely just right for our family gathering. Loved the style and decor too. Very keen to return.

Mrs W,

Fantastic holiday cottage. Ideally located for walking in the Peaks and near to local shops, buses and Chatsworth. Fully equipped kitchen, comfy living room and good size bedrooms with views to Chatsworth. We would stay again.

Ms K,

Cottage for 6 with more than adequate bedrooms but maybe a little cramped in the lounge but perfect for us two plus dog. The cottage is equipped with everything you need and with high quality stuff. It is a short walk from a corner shop and the pubs and restaurants of Baslow and obviously a short drive to Chatsworth, Bakewell and Sheffield is only 20 minutes away. Lovely views form up the hill. The only improvement I could suggest is to make check in time earlier at 3pm, in winter after 4pm it is dark and not easy to find or unload the car.
