Description

There’s plenty of attractions and things to do in the surrounding area, Chatsworth House and gardens is a short drive away and offers something for everyone, dont forget to stop at the award winning farm shop on your way home. Why not bring your bikes and enjoy the endless country lanes and railway cycling trails like Monsal Dale or take a wander around the pretty town of Bakewell trying out it's famous Bakewell puddings. Foolow village is a pretty and very traditional limestone village with many beautiful walks. In the centre of the village you will find the picturesque duck pond, where you can sit and watch the world go by or enjoy calling into the local village pub. Buxton, a short drive away, is a popular spa town based in the heart of the Peak District, boasting magnificent architecture, an array of shops and gorgeous scenery.

Wander through into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, sink into the comfort of the cushioned sofas and flick on the TV/DVD to watch your favourite soap or just relax with a good book. On those chillier nights, enjoy the warmth of the wood burner’s soft glow as well as the underfloor heating. Have a natter with everyone whilst you cook in the well-equipped kitchen with range style electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Gather round the extendable dining table, which seats six guests for a wonderful evenings meal. The utility room provides a washing machine and plenty of space to house those muddy boots and coats after a long days walk and a handy separate ground floor WC. Heading up the stairs there is a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower and WC, a double bedroom and twin bedroom. The bathroom is fresh and inviting with a shower over bath and WC so don't forget to bring your bubble bath for a long relaxing soak in the tub.

Watch the kids run care free in the private garden area, break out the Pimms on a hot summers day while cooking up a BBQ on the patio with table and seating. There is ample off-road parking.

Reviews

From the moment we arrived we felt at home. What can I say, the cottage is beautiful inside and out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage had everything we needed and more! Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing home away from home. Thank you

Mrs W,

Shippon Cottage is in a picturesque location with easy access to the Monsal Trail and Bakewell. The cottage was clean and cosy with everything we needed for the week. We had a lovely Sunday lunch in the Bull Inn at Foolow and also walked to Eyam where there are a good selection of places to eat and drink. Penny is a lovely host and our lab made friends with Digby the lab too.
