Description
Now available again following a ground floor refurbishment of kitchen and bathroom!
Thrift cottage is a charming cottage retaining lots of original features like panelled doors, a traditional dresser and a lovely stone fireplace with wood burner. In a little parade of cottages close to the centre of this picturesque village, you can really feel part of local life. It's still milk and eggs from the milkman. The Queen Anne pub is famed for its hearty meals and great ale! Great Hucklow is out in the 'wilds' of Derbyshire in the real Peak District with its patchwork of stone walls and fields, fantastic stone outcrops, magnificent dales and lovely sparkling rivers. Climb to the top of Hucklow Edge as the paragliders float by, have a pint in the Barrel Inn and just marvel at one of the best views in the world. Yet the interesting 'plague' village of Eyam is just a few minutes' drive away, as is Tideswell with its range of shops, pubs, cafes and 'Cathedral of the Peak' church. Then in complete contrast you are not far from attractions as diverse as Chatsworth House, Carsington Water, Castleton's caverns, the National Tramway Museum.

Location
FOOLOW AND GREAT HUCKLOW
Foolow and Great Hucklow are peaceful little villages, in the midst of the Peak District National Park and set under the dramatic Great Hucklow Edge. Jumbles of stone cottages make them really picturesque against the backdrop of lovely rolling countryside. The Bull Inn in Foolow and the Queen Anne Inn in Great Hucklow will always give you a warm welcome and Foolow has the added attraction of the lovely village duck pond with its white ducks.
There is lots to do and see in the local area. Just down the lane is Eyam with all its Plague history. As close in the opposite direction is Tideswell with its Cathedral of the Peaks church and High Nelly’s super café – the Welsh Rarebits are to die for! You must also go to the Barrel Inn at Bretton high up on the Edge. – the food is great and the views are just incredible. Save a bit of time to explore Stoney Middleton that has got a great fish and chip shop, the well-known Curry Cottage Indian restaurant and the Moon Inn. The Blind Bull Inn in Little Hucklow is another must with its growing reputation for lovely food.
If you hang up your walking boots and jump in the car there are visitor attractions galore within a 20-minute drive. Castleton has its spooky Blue John caverns. Buxton is famed for its Crescent and Opera House. Bakewell is home to the famous Bakewell Pudding (not a Bakewell Tart). Chatsworth House and Gardens is a majestic stately home. Haddon Hall is more homely and our own favourite. Imagine you are a ‘Dambuster’ practicing dropping the Bouncing Bomb over the Derwent Valley Dams.
Local pubs: The Bull Inn in Foolow. The Queen Anne Inn in Great Hucklow. The Blind Bull in Little Hucklow.
