Description
Sheldon Barn is a lovely barn conversion, a first-floor apartment providing fantastic views over the Peak District countryside. It is a real ‘home from home’ with a super lounge with stylish sofas, a smart dining area and two attractive bedrooms each with bath/shower rooms. Set on the edge of Monyash, with countryside walks and cycle rides radiating from the barn door, there are few better places for a holiday in Derbyshire.
Monyash is an attractive village nestling in the Derbyshire Dales near to the famous market town of Bakewell. With its village green, peaceful mere and great pub, it is just a quintessential country village. Have a morning stroll along the lane to the local café for breakfast or laze away an afternoon by the mere.
Bakewell, just ten minutes’ drive away, is surrounded by many holiday attractions. Chatsworth’s fantastic house, gardens and adventure playground and tranquil Haddon Hall are not to be missed. Parsley Hay’s cycle hire, Peak Rail’s steam trains, Matlock Bath’s cable cars, Crich's tramway museum, Castleton’s caverns, and Peveril Castle standing proud on its ramparts, are not much further afield.
The property is on the first floor, accessed via an internal staircase; the barn’s ground floor is used by the owners for storage and facilities for their B&B business. The barn’s accommodation comprises:
Living Room: with coal-effect electric stove, comfortable sofas, Smart TV, stereo and WiFi; oak dining table and chairs.
Kitchen: with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.
Bedroom 1: with king size bed and En Suite: bathroom with shower over the bath, basin and WC.
Bedroom 2: with twin beds.
Shower Room: with shower enclosure, WC and basin.
Outside: There are beautiful gardens with garden furniture and a small orchard, shared with the owners and their B&B guests.
There is also secure storage for bikes by arrangement.
Parking: is available together with an electric charging point. Electric car charging @ £0.50 per KWh, minimum fee £10; payable to the owners at the property.
A cot and highchair can be requested.
Pets and smoking are not permitted anywhere on the site.
Location
BAKEWELL
Even if you have never been to Derbyshire and the Peak District, we bet you will have heard of Bakewell famed for its Bakewell Puddings made to a secret recipe. Set astride the river Wye, this is the main tourist town in the Peak District with its brilliant Monday market, local and ‘outward bound’ type shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants.
It is great to just wander around the town, sit by the river and feed the ducks, have a Pudding in one of the cafés or some fish and chips from Catch 32 in the high street. It’s just a short drive to magnificent Chatsworth House or the more homely Haddon Hall. Don’t forget to visit Caudwell’s water powered flour mill with its vegetarian café and craft shop or the award-winning Chatsworth Farm Shop.
Bakewell rivals Ashbourne in its claim as the gateway to the Peak District. Go north into the Peak and find lots of picturesque villages to visit, underground caverns to explore, cycle trails to ride and numerous country pubs. You might even venture up onto the high moorlands and perhaps spot one of the white hares on the top of Kinder Scout. Get back in time for a pint or two in Thornbridge Brewery.
Local pubs – The Manners, The Cock and Pullet in Sheldon and The Packhorse Inn in Little Longstone.
