Description

Located in the historic spa town of Buxton, sitting on the edge of the Peak District National Park, this desirable cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the area. The town is renowned for its Georgian and Victorian architecture; there is a beautiful blend of green spaces, culinary delights and shops, all within a mile of the property. The Pavilion Gardens, Devonshire Dome and Opera House sit right in the heart of the town. Local ales can be enjoyed at the nearby Buxton Brewery and other local brew houses. Just a mile from the cottage, find Go Ape and Poole’s Cavern, one of the most impressive Derbyshire caverns. A stroll through Buxton Country Park from Poole's Cavern leads to the summit of Grin Low and the Victorian viewing tower of Solomon's Temple where you can enjoy the views of the Peak District.

Reviews

Had a lovely few days at the cottage. Very comfortable and clean. Everything we needed was supplied and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Mrs W,

We experienced a lot of broken and maintenance issues both inside & outside. These have been reported to the owner. The housekeeper who we tried to contact didn't respond. The house is very near to a main road, so expect noise from lorries passing by. We had to keep the curtains closed as the house is very looked on from all windows in the property. Heating was not on when we arrived despite asking prior to our arrival. As we visited in February, the house was freezing.

Mrs M,

Great location and lovely roomy cottage

Mr H,

Cottage is in a really quiet location 10min walk from Buxton town, 2min walk to a lovely walk in the country park. Cottage was spacious and had everything you need. Tesco express 1min walk and Aldi 2min car drive. Space for 2cars

Mrs F,

We had a lovely stay despite the weather and all the people we met were very friendly. I would recommend the local pub The Sun Inn for both food and drink and the Lucky House Chinese was superb.

Mrs R,

Good location but let down by bedroom three that’s not really a double bedroom, by lack of wardrobe in main bedroom and no coffee table in lounge. A few changes would make this an excellent property but left as it is average. The property was clean the kitchen large & well equipped for five to six people, the lounge had two good settees and a range of furniture easily accommodating 5-6 people. Would recommend if simple changes made but until then no.

Mr A,

A lovely cottage with three comfy beds. A very well equipped kitchen. Nicely tucked away but with great main road access.

Mrs C,

Lovely cottage with a perfect location for our stay. The cottage was very clean and lots of kitchen equipment and plenty of crockery. The beds are very hard and if you have a bad back just be warned there is no give in the mattress. The shower cubicle could do with an update. The living room could do with a coffee table so there is some where to put your mugs while relaxing in the living room. Lovely stay in a perfect location

Miss R,

We were very comfortable, thank you, a little snag with the heating to begin with but we managed and the issue was dealt with very efficiently.

Ms K,

It would be helpful to have had a wardrobe in the main bedroom, especially given that there were 3 bedrooms but with only one wardrobe between them. Similarly a coffee table to put drinks on in the living room would have helped. The location with respect to the town was good but the outlook on to a large old house which looked like run down apartments plus an adjoining building linked to this and our property didn't give much privacy nor was esthectically pleasing.

Mr S,

Very nice property and location. To note, a loose toliet seat in main bathroom and oven hadn't been cleaned at the bottom. For future perhaps a small outside table and chairs for nice weather.

Mr C,

Excellent stay well situated and very comfortable.

Mr G,

We very much enjoyed our stay at Thorn Heyes cottage- it’s in easy reach of some great pubs (especially loved the Old Sun Inn) and restaurants near the Market Square. The property was warm and comfortable and the bedrooms lovely and quiet. Off street parking was also a bonus. The owner was very helpful and prompt in answering queries.
