Description

This gorgeous three-storey Grade II listed property is located in the pretty village centre of Cromford, steeped in history and offering plenty of amenities. Sympathetically restored and lovingly cared for, the cottage blends modern comforts with a real sense of history – note the fascinating wording adorning the staircase! The cottage is within 0.25 mile of pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes. There is a fabulous bookshop just around the corner and a beautiful mill pond where you can often see swans and ducks. Venture down to Cromford Mills, just half a mile away, and discover some great shops or take a stroll by the canal for a nice flat walk. Close to High Peak Trail and Black Rocks, venture out on foot and enjoy the adventurous and extremely picturesque walks right from your doorstep, or head just one mile away to Matlock Bath, where you can enjoy ice cream parlours, fish and chip shops, cable cars and more!

Ground Floor:

Living Room: with exposed beams, shuttered windows, large sofa and armchair in front of an inglenook fireplace with gas stove, Freeview TV with DVD player and a dining table, which fits perfectly by the window.

Kitchen: small but well-equipped, with electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge freezer and washing machine.

First Floor:

Bedroom 2: A pretty room with a small (4’) double bed.

Shower Room: with shower cubicle, WC and basin.

Second Floor:

Master Bedroom: a characterful room with double bed, wooden floor, ornate fireplace and a window seat overlooking the hills.

Outside: to the rear of the property is a small courtyard with garden furniture and a steeply terraced garden. 34 uneven stone steps (with handrail), well worth the climb, take you up to another seating area where you can enjoy the views of the hills over the rooftops and find yourself in a little sun trap on the right day.

Parking: a permit is provided, in the cottage, for one parking space 150 metres from the cottage; it is usually possible to unload near the front door.

Reviews

Very nice cottage. Well decorated. Very clean. Hopefully we can come back soon.

Mr D,

Lovely cottage.Well equipped. Great location with lovely pubs and walks nearby and fabulous scenic places just a short drive away.

Mrs R,

Beautiful area. Cottage outstanding

Mrs H,

Generally a good cottage. A bit dark but good value for money

Ms R,

Overall we had a good stay. The cottage was really lovely but missing a few touches that would have made the stay perfect. No welcome pack seem mean. Loading and unloading on that busy road was fun but we were ready for that and not too bad in the end. The busy road was a bit noisy at times. Nice to have off road parking. Cromford is a lovely village. It's a short walk to the Boat down Scarthin Rd. Highly recommended. We ate there on their Pie and Steak nights. Fantastic value food. The local shop was well stocked and we had some massive rolls(cobs locally) made up. We had a couple of lovely walks from the door and Matlock Bath is a long stroll away. Buses to further afield are only £2 per single fare.

Mr M,

Lovely accommodation set out over three levels with all the local amenities within walking distance. Busy road at the front that makes unloading and loading a bit tricky, but only downside to location.

Mr G,

Nice cosy cottage in a picturesque area. Friendly local people. Good place to stay would certainly recommend it.

Mr P,

Wonderful time had in your lovely cottage - thank you! Felt right at home. The Boat Inn steak night & really friendly fish shop were a treat. There is so much to do in the Peak District we wished we could have stayed longer. Really recommend Calamine Cottage as the perfect base. Thanks again. We have made some treasured memories.

Previous Customer,

Great little holiday cottage in a beautiful village. Perfect location for exploring the area we enjoyed days out with the children at nearby Gulliver's Kingdom and Sudbury Hall. Everything was tidy and comfortable.

Mrs P,

Wonderful place to stay to explore the peak district. A fantastic service all round. Thank you.

Mrs R,

We loved the cottage and access to the Peak District attractions was perfect. The village amenities were great:- Local shop, Pub, Fish & Chip shop etc. We didn't use the rear garden of the property as we felt it was too risky with the steep stone steps even though we are not frail! The main issue was the busy road and the fact that we had a lot of heavy trucks from the local quarries speeding past starting at 4am. It was extremely noisy so early in the morning.

Mrs Valerie S,

We so enjoyed our time at Calamine cottage. Could have quite happily stayed there. Lovey place. Thank you

Previous Customer,

Lovely little house in a stunning village, great walks and the people are so friendly, will definitely return ??

Mrs Gillian J,

Lovely cottage in the perfect location to explore the Peak District. Would recommend the Greyhound. Lovely staff and we had a great meal on our last night. Would also recommend the tiny Fish & Chip shop. Feeling lovely and relaxed. Such a shame it's back to normal life now! Many thanks.

Previous Customer,

This was the perfect place to stay for our week in this lovely part of the country. The cottage was well equipped and we slept well in the comfy bed. We enjoyed visiting Arkwright's Mill, Bakewell, Matlock Bath. A highlight was getting the train to Ambergate and walking back by the canal. Everyone has been friendly in the local shops and hostelries. Service and atmosphere at the Boat is exceptional! We are leaving with some great memories.

Previous Customer,

You have a gorgeous cottage in a superb location! It was just a shame that it rained all week - well, most of it. We highly recommend the Boat Inn, especially on Wednesday steak night but you need to book. Also the best Fish & Chips are from the tiny shop, only open on Thursday to Saturday, though. Feeling well chilled out, many thanks.

Previous Customer,

Thanks for a lovely week in this beautiful village! Highly recommend the Boat Inn down the road for drinks and a cosy atmosphere. We are looking forward to staying again next year!

First g,

Lovely cottage well equipped, clean and in a great location for exploring and going for walks and making the most of the surrounding areas. The Greyhound in the village was lovely great food and lovely staff, well worth a visit.
