Reviews

Fabulous cottage for a group get together, really homely and well equipped. Don’t be but off by comments on noise from the quarry, didn’t bother us at all. Great location for the high peak trail and great local pubs

Mrs F,

Unfortunately the description for this holiday cottage is not accurate. The cottage is beautiful and very well equipped however it's location next to a factory is unfortunate and therefore I would not recommend this as a summer location. The advert indicated 'occasional noise from factory'. It would be more accurate to state 'occasional quiet'. The noise was constant Monday through Friday 24 hrs a day from what we could tell apart from a 30 min break around 6pm. They did take Friday evening off but were back working on Saturday. The advert shows a lovely garden space however, it was not peaceful to sit in and therefore we hardly used it. The internal glazing made the noise bearable inside but as mentioned this is a problem in summer when it is so hot you may need to leave windows open at night. This location could only be recommended for winter gatherings where you would not expect to sit outside or weekend only lets where you might accept only day time noise on the Saturday.

Dr F,

The location is fantastic, and a great starting point. We throughly enjoyed this holiday and would definitely recommend it. It housed 10 of us and at no time did we feel over crowded.

Mrs H,

The farmhouse is gorgeous with good outdoor space. The only thing that let's it down is the constant sound from the nearby quarry which runs during the week and is quite loud. Fine if you're indoors but outside or with the windows open you do hear it. Apart from that the views were lovely, and the house is beautiful and extremely comfortably furnished with no expense spared. The softest most luxurious towels ever and wonderful hotel quality beds and linen too. Karen who manages it was faultless, a lovely lady who responds quickly to phone calls. We've never stayed anywhere that's managed so well. It was a wonderful place to stay for a family get together and we would definitely go back again.

Mrs M,

A very well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Plenty of room for our families to enjoy time together. The children enjoyed the freedom of being able to roam the hills around the cottage. The only downside was having to leave by 9.30am. A slightly later departure time would be a nicer end to the holiday.

Mrs H,

This is a fantastic place in a beautiful area. Although a little hard to find, the property manager provided incredibly clear instructions and was on hand if there were any issues. The farmhouse was perfect, incredibly clean, modern appliances, great bathrooms and amenities plus a great kitchen, they even decorated for Christmas! The fire was fantastic and there are some great walks around the house and lovely villages a close drive away. The property manager was fantastic and provided clear information and support as well as a beautiful home. Thoroughly recommend staying here!!

Miss G,

The property was ideal for the whole family to enjoy time together. We appreciated the high quality of finish, furnishings and appliances and of course the welcome cake and wine were a bonus! The cake was exceptionally good! We had everything that we needed, including a high chair and travel cot. The quiet location was ideal and well situated to enjoy the main attractions and walks of The Peak District. The information provided prior to arrival was excellent. We would love to return.

Mrs B,

We had a lovely time staying with family at New Harborough Farm. The quality of everything was beautiful and the welcome cake and wine such a nice touch. We hope to be back in the future!

Mrs M,

BRASSINGTON

Brassington is a very picturesque village with a muddle of cottages tumbling down the hillside nestling in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Close to the lovely Georgian market town of Ashbourne as well as the historic lead mining town of Wirksworth there are few better places to base your holiday. But best of all the village has two great pubs. Ye Olde Gate Inn is a 17th century unspoilt village inn that has been named Britain’s cosiest pub. Alternatively get a very warm welcome in the Miners Arms that does great food and fantastic beer.

If you enjoy the countryside, you might know that the Limestone Way that passes the village will take you out across the Peaks while the nearby Tissington Trail is just great for walking or cycling. Set virtually on the shores of Carsington Water, Derbyshire’s inland sea, there is also easy access to wild water sports, birdwatching, cycle hire, an adventure playground, visitor centre, café and craft shops.

There is lots to explore in this southern part of the Peak District. Beautiful Dove Dale has its famous stepping stones across the river or there is Manifold Dale with its ‘vanishing’ waters. Tissington with its fine Jacobean Manor, Hartington with its great cheese shop or Crowdecote with its incredible views are great local villages. You might even get as far as Alton Towers just over in Staffordshire!

Local pubs – Ye Olde Gate Inn, the Miners Arms and the Knockerdown near Carsington.
