Description
Little House is an amazing barn conversion set amongst a cluster of cottages in a peaceful little valley nestling in the rolling hills south of Matlock. As soon as you get there you will realize that this is a very special place. The open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen surround a central double-sided log burning stove. The vaulted bedroom with a quiet reading area and balcony looking out over the fields is incredible. The terrace, balcony and patio are ideal places to have a glass or two while admiring the stunning views.
This is the perfect base from which to explore the numerous local attractions. The High Peak Trail is great for walkers and cyclists. Carsington Water with its water sports, cycle trails and birdwatching is just over the hill. The lovely historic town of Wirksworth with heritage railway, heritage trail, quirky Northern Lights little cinema and many a pub and restaurant is just ten minutes drive away. Belper's award-winning market town in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Corridor is another must-see.
There are also lots of other Peak District attractions in the surrounding hills. Matlock Bath with its cable cars and riverside prom is not to be missed. Magnificent Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just up the Derwent Valley. Venture beyond famous Bakewell and you are in the real Peaks with sparkling rivers, picturesque villages, incredible views from the gritstone edges and country pubs galore.

Location
ALDERWASLEY
Alderwasley is a sleepy little hamlet in the hills south of Matlock. There are walks galore in lovely rolling countryside. It is a bit less busy than parts of the Peak District yet it is still very easy to get to many of the local visitor attractions. The National Tramway Museum, Carsington Water, the Heights of Abraham and the Midland Railway Centre are all within a 10-minute drive.
Little historic Wirksworth is the nearest town, with all its lead mining heritage, where jumbles of cottages and a network of alleyways create an award-winning heritage trail. A lovely market square, small independent shops, the Northern Lights micro cinema, the Star Disk, the Ecclesbourne Valley heritage railway and Le Mistral restaurant complete the picture.
Belper in the UNESCO Derwent Valley World Heritage Corridor is nearly as close. Its designation reflects its Industrial Revolution links that are evident throughout the town. There is the historic North Mill, lots of historic cottages and cobbled roads, an interesting heritage centre, beautiful Riverside Gardens and an award-winning market street. George’s Fish and Chips are the best around!
Local pubs - The Malt Shovel between Alderwasley and Wirksworth, the Royal in Wirksworth and the Black Swan in Idridgehay.
