Reviews

This cottage is very nice lovely walks round village all the 3pubs serve lovely food. Parking was difficult as no allocated parking on site only the road which is very busy. This place is not really suitable for elderly or larger people otherwise would be a pleasant place to stay .

Mr M,

Wutley Cottage is a wonderful haven in a great location. The décor is lovely, and everything you could possibly need is provided, including a fabulous basket of goodies. I have never stayed in such an immaculate holiday cottage before and it's now my favourite property. The bed is so comfortable that we slept really well. The weather was not the best with snow, rain and cold, so it was great to come back to this cosy place and relax in front of a log fire. We will be back soon. Youlgreave is a lovely place to stay, with a choice of three pubs, two shops and a couple of cafes too. You are surrounded by wonderful countryside and different walks through it. And close to the amazing Haddon Hall and other attractions.

Mrs B,

How lucky were we to find this beautiful cottage available for the 3 nights we wanted, and it was yards away from my grandparents' cottage I spent a lot of my childhood and early teens in from the 1940's to the early 60's. Opening the door we walked into a lovely comfortable lounge, so tastefully decorated, as was the rest of the house. A lovely welcome note from the owners and a basket of "goodies", wine, cake, peanuts, biscuits etc was a very kind thought. The equipment was second to none and everything spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds, you don't get that everywhere ! We were warned about the windy narrow stairs so were well prepared. My husband has some walking difficulties, but we helped him up and down and I found coming down backwards the best way. I am biased as Youlgreave is my roots, but it's a lovely village with fabulous walks, good pubs and food and so many places to visit from there like Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall., Robin Hood Stride. The old co-op where I was sent for the shopping, as a child is now a YHA, with a fabulous cafe with great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Do visit Stanton - in -Peak, near there, for views to die for. I could say more, go and find out for yourself.

Mrs H,

A lovely cottage in a great location. My friend and I had such a good time I hope to go with my husband there next year and my friend has already booked again for a winter break.

Mrs T,

Lovely compact cottage with all creature comforts..washing machine and a dishwasher! Great location with Bakewell a 10 min drive away and Chatsworth close by. 3 good pubs in the village and a shop plus cafe. No off street parking but not a problem for us . We used the free car park 150m away . All in all great cottage and location and we were blessed with great weather as well !

Mr A,

Wutley is a beautiful little cottage with everything you'd need in great location in centre of friendly Youlgreave. Will definitely return!

Ms S,

The cottage was very comfortable , well equiped and ideal for two . It was a good base for visiting around and lots of lovely walking .

Mr P,

A compact but comfortable cottage , nicely furnished with everything you might need. Lovely little village with great walks from the door.

Mrs N,

Lovely cottage. Everything we needed and places to eat within walking distance. Parking a bit of a problem.

Mrs J,

Cosy warm comfortable cottage. Located of off main road. Parking restricted in main road caused a slight problem but knowing the village we expected it. Friendly village and beautiful Dale with lovely walks. The Farmyard Inn in village has good food and very welcoming.

Mrs C,

Location

YOULGREAVE

The beautiful village of Youlgreave stands high above Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale with the clear, sparkling rivers running through the valleys below.  The wide banks of the River Bradford are a perfect spot for a picnic.  Or walk south-east to the gritstone outcrop of Robin Hood’s Stride and on to Stanton Moor, a designated Scheduled Ancient Monument featuring more than 70 barrows and 4 stone circles, the best known of which is Nine Ladies.  Youlgreave is truly situated in an ancient landscape.  Three miles west of the village is Arbor Low, one of the largest Neolithic henges in England.

Today, Youlgreave is a bustling, popular village with a range of shops, cafes, a post office and pubs.

Nearby is Bakewell, the main tourist town of the Peak District with its Bakewell Puddings made to a secret recipe.  It’s also just a short drive to magnificent Chatsworth House or the more homely Haddon Hall. Don’t forget to visit Caudwell’s water powered flour mill with its vegetarian café and craft shop or the award-winning Chatsworth Farm Shop.
